Honorary Fellow ICE (I)
- Honorary Fellows shall be distinguished
persons who from their positions have been or
are enabled to render assistance in the
prosecution of public works
- A person eminent in science and experience
in pursuits connected with the profession of
Civil Engineers / Architectural Engineers,
whether or not engaged in the practice of that
profession.
- The Board of Management will be the
authority to nominate the person as in (i) and
(ii) above as Honorary Fellows
- Each Honorary Fellow shall be entitled to
the use of the designatory letters "Hon FICE
(I)"
Important
considerations for award of these Memberships
are elaborated below:
Fellow ICE (I)
- He/she has a minimum age of 40 years at
the time of his/her application and has been
in the class of Member of the Institution for
a period of 5 years or such shorter period as
the Institution may decide in any particular
case on its merit. The condition of the
Membership may be waived off and the person
may be admitted directly to the class of
Fellow if in the opinion of the Institution
this will improve the image of the
institution.
- The candidate shall be a professionally
qualified engineer and shall have held the
position of significant responsibility of
promotion, planning, design, construction,
maintenance or management of important
engineering works for a period of 15 years or
such shorter period as the Institution may
decide.
OR
- The candidate shall have high educational
qualification and either have made some
outstanding or notable contribution to the
science or engineering or have materially
advanced the practice of engineering from the
academic, research, technical or management
standpoint; and the candidate shall occupy
such a prominent position in the profession of
Civil/Architectural Engineering that his/her
admission as fellow would in the opinion of
the Institution advance the interest of the
institution.
OR
- The candidate shall have obtained a high
reputation in the field of Civil /
Architectural Engineering sustained over a
number of years, possesses some tangible
recognition of eminence and have made some
significant contribution to
Civil/Architectural Engineering achievements
such that the candidates admission as a Fellow
would in the opinion of the Institution
advance the interest of the Institution.
OR
- Employment as a professor of engineering
or as a senior member of the engineering
faculty in a University or College which has a
regular course of study leading to an academic
qualification approved by the Institution or
in employment in a responsible position on
important engineering research or in the
management.
- Each Fellow shall be entitle to the use of
the designatory letters FICE (I).
Member ICE (I)
- He/she has minimum age of 25 years at the time of his/her application.
- He/she possesses the degree of Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from a reputed University / Engineering College or shall have passed an academic examination, which permits exemption from Section A and Section B examination of the Institution.
He/she has acquired practical experience of 3 years or such shorter period but atleast one year after graduation (as the Institution may decide) in a manner satisfactory to the Institution, in promotion, planning, design, construction, maintenance or management of such works as are comprised within the profession of a Civil Engineer/Architectural Engineer or in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering research or teaching of engineering course leading to the qualification approved by the Institution for minimum period of 2 years.
Institutional Member ICE (I)
- Amongst the different Grades of Membership
of ICE (I), Institutional Members (Students
Chapter) occupy a very significant position.
ICE (I) therefore grants this membership after
satisfying it self to the credibility of the
Institution applying for such membership. The
institutional Membership is granted after
inspection of the institution as to its
academic & infrastructure & strengths.
Institutional Members (Students’ Chapter) of ICE
- These Chapters provide information about
the programmes and policies of ICE (I) and
register students for enrolment. The
Institutional Members (Students’ Chapter)
provide all academic & administrative support
to its registered candidates to complete the
course of studies and to appear for
examination.
The Institutional Members
(Students’ Chapter) also arrange Practicals &
submission of Project Report through the AICTE
approved Institutions (Engineering
Colleges/Polytechnics) as per directions of
ICE (I)
Eligibility
Any educational Institution, body or
organization involved in advancing the interests
of Civil/Architectural Engineering is eligible
to apply for membership of ICE (I) as
Institutional Member (Students’ Chapter).
Candidates who wish to enroll for any of
the examinations conducted by ICE (I) should
carefully note that.
- Regulations and Syllabi are available from
the Institutional Members (Students’ Chapter)
in their area or from the office of the ICE
(I) at Ludhiana and New Delhi.
- The filled in application form & fee is to
be deposited with the Institutional Members
(Students’ Chapter) only.
- The Institutional Members provide academic
& administrative support to the candidates
registered with them. They arrange personal
contact programme/seminars/workshops and also
purpose the students for practical training
and submission of Project Report at the
designated AICTE approved Institution for
these.
- The Institutional Members charge fee as
per the facilities provided by them which fee
is in addition to the fee payable to ICE (I).
Procedure to apply for Membership
- Every application for membership shall be
on prescribed application form which can be
obtained from the office of the ICE (I) or
downloaded from the website of ICE (I).
- The application should be completed in all
respects, accompanied by the necessary
enclosures.
- All applications so received are
scrutinized to determine the eligibility of
the applicant/Institution.
- All Members shall be given a number which
shall be quoted in all
correspondence/reference with the Institution.
This number will be indicated on the
Membership Certificate Issued by the ICE (I).
Code of Conduct
Each Member/Institution shall be liable to
follow the code of conduct as laid down by ICE
(I) as per details given below:
- The Member will, at all times promote and
strengthen the engineering profession as
enshrined in the objectives & mission of the
Institution.
- Member will not indulge in any act which
may tarnish the dignity of his profession and
the feelings of his Fellow Members in his
talks, actions, behaviour and works
- As a Member of the team will work in
harmony with others and would share with
others the credit of the team work.
- A Member will always maintain secrecy and
confidentiality of the work so entrusted to
him.
- A Member will not receive any undue
advantage of his position in the Institution.
- A Member for any work done on behalf of
the Institution will not receive any
remuneration from any source without the
approval of the authorities of the
Institution.
- A Member will devote himself for the
development of the self, Society and the
Nation within the framework of the aims,
objectives and mission of the Institution.
- A Member will be upright in all his
dealings with person (s), organizations, in
business, contracts, and agencies and shall
not take actions that lead to groups,
political connotations or unethical conduct in
the discharge of his official process.
- A Members will express an opinion only
when he is convince and has gather sufficient
fact to do so.
- A Member will not involve in any
unauthorized communication of any official
document or information.
- The Membership of the ICE (I) can be
withdrawn for any act/s which is unbecoming of
a member of the ICE (I) as determined and
approved by the Institution.
- The jurisdiction for any dispute between
the member & ICE (I) shall be the Courts of
Ludhiana only.
